Dinner at the Church's House

Garrick has a group of friends from High School and College that they have stayed close for years. Everyone lives around Nashville but we never seem to be able to get together. Tonight a few of the families got to get together for dinner. It was so fun to catch up and see our kids play. Gaines was in heaven with all of Garrison and Lawson's toys.
The babies playing
Lawson and Will are just about 6 weeks a part. They played catch and did not take out any lamps.

Changing their baby's diaper. They were very serious about this task.
Lawson Church and Will - 2 years old
For once we did not poise this picture. Will crawled up there with Lawson - it was too cute!
Will and Lawson around 8 months old.

Garrison Church, the oldest child of our motley crew, gathered the kids on the couch for a picture with his camera. It was great!

Love this! I know we will cherish these pics forever.

Celebrating Dani and Baby Jacob

For the second weekend in a row I am throwing a baby shower. I really should do this for a living! Dani, my friend since 7th grade, is having her first baby. We had old friends and family over to celebrate at my house. Childhood friends are so special no matter how many years go pass. I am so excited to meet this Baby boy in August!

Dani's Sister-in-law, Madonna, made the cake and did the candy table. It was so cute and delicious.
I think this may be my favorite banner i have made yet! I hope she sticks with this name!
We filled out Baby Wishes cards for Baby Jacob.

Old Friends!

Courtney and Dani are due about 2 weeks a part. Courtney was not supposed to here. She is on complete bed rest and ended up having Baby Eli the following Tuesday!

Will - The Only Child

While Gaines went to camp each day, Will got his first week ever of being an only child. Anytime we talked about Gaines going to camp, he would say, "I camp. I camp." I was really worried about taking him up to camp with me because I knew he would want to stay. Gaines and I dropped Will off with Poppy on Monday while we went to camp. He loved it of course. On Monday we just spent the morning running errands and we met Happy for lunch.

On Tuesday, Will and I both had a "FIRST." I let Will stay at Mimi and Papa's house while I dropped Gaines off at camp. Now this is huge for so many reasons. Papa Jim was not there so uncle Rusty came out to play and to help Mimi. Will was totally fine and not worried just waving to me from the porch "BYE MOMMY!"
Day 2 - Having a little snack at Mimi and Papa's house when I got there to pick him up.
Met Lydia and Luke at Shipwrecked to play. Can you see these crazy boys throwing balls at each other? They had a special music class as well and the boys had fun singing and dancing.
"Mommy, McDonalds. Mommy, McDonalds."
On Day 3 of camp week, I fly around the curve on Harkreader Road while taling to Jessica and telling her how I hope it does not bite me leaving Will with my grandparents and I see Will and Papa Jim walking hand in hand on that dangerous country road! They have 14 acres to walk around and they just had to walk on the road. I don't think Papa realizes Will is only 2 and he is 77! Of course nether one of them saw any problems with this!!! After I picked him up we went to meet our MJ Pool Day friends at the Providence Pool. Luke and Will had a blast. I love watching Will interact with other kids. Unlike Gaines at this age he loves playing with his buddies.

My sweet, rotten baby boy

Since I only had one child today, I actually got to play with the babies and enjoyed it. We played a very intense game of Simon Says. Aynslee, Luke, and Will really loved it. Now excuse the beach whale of a teacher and focus on the kids.

Having a little snack with Papa Jim after camp.

Day 4 - Hanging with my Great-Grandparents
It poured down rain all week but Will loved being able to play on the covered porch.
Ready in his rain gear
Play date with Hallee Hanna while the big kids were at camp. These two have just started playing together and they are too cute. They played pretty much without a peep to us for about an hour in a half! I asked Will what he did with Hallee and he said, "I sing."
Lunch Date
Day 5 - We get to Mimi's House and Papa Jim is not there and Will is NOT happy. He keeps saying, "Papa Jim. Papa Jim." He finally settled on Rusty. Still raining this week and I come to pick up Will and him and Rusty are playing in the rain. He needed to lose his shirt since it was wet. I love to hear him say "COME RUSS RUSS."
Will still asked for Gaines every day but I think he enjoyed being the only baby for a little bit. It is kind of sad that he truly does not know what to do without his Big Bro.

Gaines's First Camp

Gladeville Baptist Church, where the boys go to school and where I grew up going to church, has a weeklong day camp in the summer and Gaines was old enough to participate. It was GREAT! 9am-3pm everyday and many of his teachers from school worked the camp. He was so excited! I read him the daily "THEMES" each day where he would be prepared.

Day 1: Farm Day
It was too wet for the animals so they had train rides today at camp. Can you see Gaines in the yellow car?

Day 2 - Olympic Day
Never did really find out what he did this day! He looks cute though. His teachers said that Gaines always piped in to let them know what the themes were each day.
Day 3 - Bike Day
You brought your bike to school today. Garrick was really concerned Gaines would be embarrassed because he only had a tricycle. not sure why this mattered since he could barely even ride the tricycle. We went to Mimi and Papa's early to practice. This was not such a great idea. Gaines fell 3 times and was dreading Bike Day.
I asked Gaines about Bike Day and he said it was great. He took it SLOW.  There was this really cool bike wash and I asked Gaines if he took his bike through it. He said, "No, I didnt want to get my band-aids wet." Yes, we are very concerned with his scratched up knees...
Gainesy watching the movie
Day 4- Pajama Day!
Gaines was so excited about this day. They were going to watch a movie and have popcorn on the big screen in the Big Back Yard.

Day 5 - Water Day
Gaines said he did not play in the water because his Band-Aids would get wet. Today was a rough drop off not really sure why he was clinging to me.
