Bow tie Builders

Gaines and Will looked so cute today in their outfits Gaines picked out that I had to take pictures!

Gaines picked out their outfits and then he decided they were construction workers. The clothespin on his helmet is for his walkie-talkie to work. They were making up songs for their business.

Mimi and Gaines working on some clues.

This table I remember from when I was a little girl at Mimi's house - there are some things that should NOT stand the test of time.

What happens at Mimi's when you need a bag for all your goods that you have collected or found in their house - they each came home with a purse. Gaines's we can kind of call a satchel - Will's is a straight up purse. I found a brass bell in Gaines's bag.

Random Spring Tuesday

The boys woke up this morning fighting. It started with if this Blue Puppy belonged to Will or Gaines. This was the compromise that they could both touch it if they sat in the chair together. This was also the first really warm day that they could wear shorts and short sleeves. I thought they looked cute in their little polos. Nonni surprised us at school and then we headed to Mimi and Papa Jim's after school.

In Gaines's classroom. it was bring your favorite teddy bear to school day in his class.

Nonni and Will in his classroom.

Will takes a nap every day at school. I still don't know how they can sleep on these mats.

Who knows what Gaines is doing. I am sure he is digging for something.

Happy 49th Birthday Uncle Rusty!

We took Uncle Rusty to lunch and the Dollar Store to celebrate his 49th birthday. The boys were so excited and I think it made Russ's day as well. Nothing like spending your birthday visiting the top spots in Gladeville, TN - there are only 3 places period in Gladeville, TN!

Birthday Lunch at The Glade Cafe

Gaines found Transformer Rescue Bots Valentine's at The Dollar Store - he was so excited!
Will got Power Rangers.

Mimi called the other day and told Gaines the next time he came over he needed to pack a bag because they were going on a treasure hunt and when they found the treasure they could pick out two items each time they came over. She has ordered about $100 worth of stuff from oriental trade to add to the junk in my house. I mean seriously this is why I cannot find the floor in my house.

Look at Will's face. I think he may be clutching more than two items in his bag...

These two are two much! Will does not realize his Papa Jim is almost 80 when he is jumping on top of him and wrestling with him. He kept saying, "Papa Jim I wessle you."

Fall Break: Just another day at the Farm

The boys got to spend some time at Mimi and Papa's playing outside and celebrating Mimi's birthday today. I always laugh at what they do at their house. I usually laugh after we survive and no one gets hurt! From climbing ladders leaned up against trees to pushing the wagon as fast as it will go and then letting go with my precious cargo inside - it is always an all boy adventure around the farm.

Can you see Will squealing?!?!? This is him going down the hill in the wagon with Papa Jim letting go. Not safe!!

Sword fighting his Great-Uncle and having no mercy with the piece of wood he found in the yard

Pure delight!

Summer Week 8

This week has been pretty low-key for us. We have not had a million things to do this week just fun stuff.

On Monday, we had a play date with our friends from school Cooper and Chloe. They managed to take out literally every toy in the house but I think they had a good time!
Tuesday was a busy morning! We went to story time at the Brentwood Library with Anna Clare and Hayes. The library was super nice and they boys seemed to have a good time and even paid attention most of the time. Craft time was interesting - Hayes and Will enjoyed taking the glue sticks in and out of the bucket most of all. Then we headed to Hayes's house and Will stayed there while I took Gaines to his 2nd My Gym class. He really loves this class.

Wednesday was quite the adventure that I will not repeat again. The movie theaters have free kids movies in the summer and I finally found one I thought was appropriate for my 3 year old (Will can watch whatever!). We headed off to Charlotte's Web and they were so excited! We got popcorn and got the perfect seats. They were in heaven for about 10 minutes. We switched seats, we got up and down, we ate all our snacks and popcorn. Gaines was perfectly content, Will on the other hand was not. He was all over the nasty floor, waving "bye" to me while he was heading down the steps while we were watching the movie. Finally about 30 minutes in I had had enough. I told Gaines we had to leave because Will was being bad and then Gaines lost it! I felt so bad for him, he was being so good and enjoying the movie. I told him that we would come back without Will which he proceeded to tell Will all the way home, "Will, you cannot come anymore to the movies."

Wednesday night I got to meet Eli Rhoton and see Courtney at the hospital. Court and I have been friends since 2nd grade and now she is a mother of 3 boys!!!

While I was gone Gaines was helping Daddy with Will. He has really gotten in to taking care of Will at night. He wants to sing him songs usually Jesus Loves Me and Old McDonald and telling him stories that he has made up. Tonight he was reading Will a book.  It really is the sweetest!

Thursday we headed to the Clark Pool for PUMC Play group day. It was such a good morning. There were about 5 families there and the weather was great. Thank goodness for Halley Clark she played with Will literally for 2 hours! Thursday night we met Nonni for dinner at Cracker Barrel since Daddy was out of town.

Crazy boys - Monkey See Monkey Do
Friday was an extra special day! Garrison Church invited Gaines to his 5 year old birthday at Chuck E Cheese. Gaines has never been before and was so excited especially after watching all the commercials for this place! I got a babysitter for Will and we headed off. Not before Gaines told Will a million times he could not go though. I thought Will was going to lose it when we left but he recovered pretty quickly. Gaines was sqealing and clapping the entire ride there. He had a ball! He looked so big sitting at the long table eating his pizza with the other kids. He really is growing up. Of course he wants his birthday there.

Friday night we headed over to Mimi and Papa's to have homemade ice cream and ride Gaines's brand new bike. We have a lot of practicing to do but he did pretty well for the first time. Will got to play some ball with Uncle Rusty and Papa Jim so he was happy!

Gaines so excited about his new bike!!!

Love this. Gaines walked up to Papa Jim and was telling him something while hugging on him.
Saturday we did nothing besides some errands. Pretty much laid around all day.
Mommy, let's take a picture. Daddy, get out the camera.
Hmmm my training is finally paying off!

Me too!!!

The Farm on a Lazy Saturday Afternoon

We decided to take some of our strawberries we picked over to Mimi and Papa's house on this afternoon. I never get tired of taking pictures of these boys at The Farm. I love seeing them play with their great-grandfather and entertain their great-grandmother and uncle. My grandfather, Papa, is a man of little words, let alone any emotions or feelings and these boys can crack him up. I am so lucky that they get to have a piece of my "Mimi and Papa" too.

Papa Jim got out his fishing rod that he has had for about 30 years.  I am sure it will come to a quick death after my boys get a hold of it! Gaines is trying to secure his "rod" in his pants like it is a holster.

Papa Jim is trying to show Will the rabbit.
Our Motley Crew
Will looks so big here. It makes me so sad to see this little chunk get bigger.

Papa decided that Gaines needed a fish to reel in so the obvious choice was to tie a rock to the end. I don't know about you but I could think of a few less harmful objects than a rock.
Will was so patient when Papa was showing him how to "fish" and finally Papa let go and thats all Will needed. He whipped that rod around and we all took cover. He swings it like a bat and mind you there is a rock tied to the in to be the "fish." The pictures do not do it justice, we literally all ran for our lives!

Uncle Rusty, my Dad's only brother, came out and took the boys to look for Blackberries. Gaines and Papa had been running around the yard with Gaines tied up like a horse. We ended our adventure with some homemade ice cream and a few more snacks.
