Soccer Stud

We have been pumping Gaines up for months on his debut on the soccer field and we had our first practice today. It was great! We showed up and the coach said go on out and kick the ball and there he went. That whole concept to me is foreign that I have a child big enough to do something without his mommy! 

For the play by play:

Coach: Grab Your ball and go kick.

Gaines liked to line it up just right to score but went all the way around if other kids were in his way.

Action!

Poor Will was miserable. All morning before we even got there he kept saying, "I play soccer with kids too, right?" He watched every move and then when he realized he was not going to get to play he saw another team and said, "ok then can I play with those kids?"

Love this! Coach had gathered the team around for some instructions.

Stretching

my favorite part - sprints up and down the field. The coach made them run at least 6 times total and the kids were about to drop. You could tell Gaines was so not into this exertion of energy. He would start off gung ho racing to the finish and then start...

Going at his own speed. He came in dead last every time! Garrick will say he didn't but I have the pictures to prove it. it wasn't even that he wasn't fast - he just didn't care! Finally the coach started chasing him to speed him up.

He was very focused on perfecting his soccer stance throughout the entire practice.

Team Drills
